She’s my Corn

She is my second daughter and she will always be my ‘babiest girl’ as I have called her this her whole life.

On the first day that I met her, I couldn’t believe she was mine. It was love at first sight. I cried when her dad handed her to me. She was perfect. Her big brown eyes melted my heart. They still do. The way her 2 year old blondish curls bounced, always made me want to scoop her up in my arms and kiss her tiny face all day long. And so I did! I couldn’t hold her long enough, or kiss her sweet face quick enough.

Her childhood names were Corky, Cork and Cocoa. It’s always interesting which names stick and don’t stick. She later became ‘corn’ and eventually Corn dog and of course ‘the corn’. Now she is “My sweet corn” mostly by her beloved husband.

Her daddy called her his ‘Dolly Dingle’ and he would always call her ‘peaches and cream.’

He was smitten by this tiny daughter of his. He would always say, “when she grows up she’s going to be such a beautiful young lady” And oh boy, was he ever right! She has become all of that and so much more.

And even though now she is a grown woman with her own beautiful babies, she will always be our dolly dingle, his sweet corn and My babiest girl.

She is now so loved and adored by her husband. I promise you that there is nothing better for a parent than to know she is loved and adored by a man that would literally go to the ends of the earth for her. It’s what every parent hopes for their child, eventually. It’s what a husband will do for his wife, if he truly loves and adores her. And unfortunately not everyone has had the privilege of experiencing this.

Only true love knows these depths of love.

But we were all left an example of this.

To be loved and adored is something I knew well by my husband.

He showed me the example of this kind of love.

It will carry me beyond this life and into the next.

It was a love that never stops.

Even death cannot stop this kind of love.

Just ask The Savior.

He showed it perfectly.
